The Indian Government has decided to open 7 big textile parks in the country under the PM MITRA scheme. These parks will be built in:
- Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar)
- Telangana (Warangal)
- Gujarat (Navsari)
- Karnataka (Kalaburagi)
- Madhya Pradesh (Dhar)
- Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow)
- Maharashtra (Amravati)
The government will spend around ₹4,445 crore on this project till the year 2027-28. The aim is to bring in ₹70,000 crore as investment and create about 20 lakh (2 million) jobs, both direct and indirect.
To help people get jobs in the textile industry, the government is also running a training program called Samarth. This program gives skill training to people so they can work in textile factories (except spinning and weaving). In Haryana alone, 26 partners are running 80 training centers under this scheme.
The government is also helping textile exporters. It gives money to different groups so they can take part in exhibitions and trade fairs in India and other countries to increase exports.
Apart from this, the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) is also going on. It started in 2020 and will run till 2026 with a budget of ₹1,480 crore. This mission supports special types of textiles used in industries and hospitals.
This information was shared in Rajya Sabha today by the Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita.
