Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal held a meeting with Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and Industry Associations at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, on October 29, 2025.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Department of Commerce, Department of Revenue, DPIIT, DGFT, along with representatives from various export bodies and business associations.
During the session, presentations were made by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the Department of Commerce on the key reforms undertaken in the first half of FY 2025–26, along with future plans to simplify export procedures and boost trade.
Focus of the Meeting
The discussions centered around:
- Challenges faced by exporters and industries.
- Measures to diversify India’s exports.
- Ideas and feedback from trade bodies to improve export promotion and competitiveness.
Representatives from major sectors such as textiles, engineering, gems and jewellery, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, services, telecom, leather, and automobiles shared their views.
Key industry groups like FIEO, CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, PHDCCI, SIAM, NASSCOM, and EPCH appreciated the government’s ongoing reforms and efforts to make India’s trade environment more supportive and globally competitive.
Government’s Commitment
Shri Piyush Goyal assured the participants that the government remains committed to building a strong and facilitative trade ecosystem. He emphasized continued efforts to promote ease of doing business, reduce export barriers, and expand India’s global market access.
“Our goal is to make India one of the top global trading nations by supporting industries, simplifying processes, and encouraging innovation in exports,” he said.
