BURLA/ROURKELA, SEP 18

In its commitment to providing reliable and sustainable power to consumers, TPWODL, the power distribution company in Western Odisha, has inaugurated its first ‘Area Power System Control Centre’ in Smart City Rourkela. The facility was inaugurated by CEO Parveen Verma, along with senior officials, on September 15.

This state-of-the-art centre represents a significant advancement in enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring a reliable, safe, and high-quality power supply to approximately 4.5 lakh domestic and industrial consumers in Rourkela and the Sundargarh district. The control centre will function as the hub for monitoring and managing electricity supply, allowing for quick identification of fault locations and enabling rapid decision-making for power restoration across the region.

Equipped with the SCADA-ADMS system, along with GIS and automation technology, the control room is staffed by trained personnel to ensure swift responses to disruptions, optimize energy flow, and improve service quality for consumers.

The new Area Power System Control Centre will collaborate with the Central Power System Control Centre in Burla to oversee and manage all 11kV and LV operations in the Rourkela Circle, which includes Rourkela, Rourkela Sadar, Rajgangpur, and Sundargarh Electrical Divisions.

On this occasion, CEO Parveen Verma emphasized that the establishment of the Area Power System Control Centre underscores TPWODL’s dedication to leveraging technology for enhanced service delivery. He stated, “This facility will not only improve operational efficiency but also empower us to respond promptly to the needs of our consumers.”
