On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Odisha government released the third installment of the Subhadra Yojana, giving ₹5,000 each to over 1 crore women beneficiaries. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed the payments at a public event in Jeypore, Koraput district, with many others receiving the money directly into their bank accounts.

In a special inclusion drive, Deputy CM Pravati Parida announced that 246 previously excluded women mostly from the border area of Kotia would receive a lump-sum payment of ₹15,000, covering all three installments at once.

Following the disbursement, the Subhadra Yojana portal was reopened for new applications. Women who recently turned 21 are now eligible to apply, while those over 60 as of 30 March 2025 will be excluded.

Launched on 17 September 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the scheme aims to empower women by providing ₹50,000 over five years in two ₹5,000 payments on Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day each year.

They will also be conducting a door-to-door survey to include women who missed out due to technicalities. So that no eligible woman is left out.
