Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China.
The leaders reviewed progress in economic, financial, and energy cooperation, expressing satisfaction at the sustained growth in these sectors. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.
On global issues, both sides discussed the Ukraine conflict. PM Modi reiterated India’s support for recent peace initiatives and stressed the urgency of a cessation of hostilities and the need to achieve a durable peace settlement.
Prime Minister also extended an invitation to President Putin to visit India for the 23rd Annual Summit, expected to take place later this year.
