NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated its 50th Raising Day with a vibrant event at its administrative building, bringing together employees, families, and local community members. The celebrations began with the unfurling of the NTPC flag by Akhilesh Singh, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting and a balloon release, marking the milestone.
Senior officials, including Debabrata Kar (GM, O&M), Asutosh Biswas (GM, Operations), and Sangeeta Singha (President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club), joined the festivities. In his address, Akhilesh Singh reflected on NTPC’s growth from a single unit in Singrauli to India’s largest integrated power producer with a capacity of over 76 GW. He also praised NTPC Bongaigaon’s exceptional operational performance, with a declared capacity of 98.90%, the highest among all NTPC stations.
The event highlighted NTPC’s commitment to both energy and community development. Recognizing employee excellence, six staff members received the prestigious Power Excel Awards. A “Power Walk” within the plant grounds, featuring employees and families holding lit bulbs, showcased the company’s strong community spirit.
Several new installations were unveiled, including a “Waste to Wealth” replica, an “I LOVE NTPC Bongaigaon” selfie point, and a Journey Wall chronicling the station’s milestones. The cultural program included a rendition of the NTPC Geet by students from Notre Dame Academy, followed by a musical performance by the A P Battalion band.
NTPC also unveiled its new logo, presented to all employees by CMD Shri Gurdeep Singh. The event underscored NTPC’s commitment to sustainability, as it aims to install 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
The 50th Raising Day celebrations showcased NTPC Bongaigaon’s rich legacy, its role in powering the Northeast, and its future-focused vision in transforming India’s energy landscape.
