The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has announced that 28.73 crore employment opportunities have been reported on the Udyam Registration Portal, including the Udyam Assist Platform, between July 1, 2020, and July 31, 2025.
The government has implemented a range of schemes including PMEGP, Credit Guarantee Scheme, MSE-CDP, RAMP, PM Vishwakarma, and SRI Fund and policy measures to promote and develop the MSME sector across the country. Key initiatives include:

Ease of Doing Business – Launch of the Udyam Registration Portal (July 2020) and the Udyam Assist Platform to formalize informal micro enterprises for Priority Sector Lending benefits.

Wider MSME Coverage – Inclusion of retail and wholesale traders under MSME classification (July 2021).

Credit Guarantee Scheme Revamp – ₹9,000 crore fund infusion to enable additional ₹2 lakh crore credit for MSEs and expand job opportunities.

PM Vishwakarma Scheme – Launched in September 2023 to provide holistic support to traditional artisans and craftspeople in 18 trades.

Self Reliant India Fund – ₹50,000 crore equity funding for high-potential MSMEs to scale up and grow.

Collateral-Free Loans – Loans up to ₹10 crore with 90% guarantee coverage from April 2025 through CGTMSE.

Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) – Facilitating faster payments to MSMEs from corporates, PSUs, and government departments.

Higher PMEGP Project Cost Limits – Manufacturing sector cap raised from ₹25 lakh to ₹50 lakh; service sector from ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for MSME Sushri Shobha Karandlaje said these steps aim to strengthen the MSME ecosystem, improve access to finance, and generate large-scale employment.
