Jindal Foundation Launches National Nutrition Week 2025 in Angul

 The Jindal Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel, has launched the weeklong observance of National Nutrition Week 2025 with an inaugural program at Badamahital village under Natada Gram Panchayat in Angul district, Odisha.

The initiative aims to combat malnutrition, anemia, low birth weight, and stunted growth by raising awareness on balanced nutrition, healthy eating, and hygiene practices.

Inaugural Program Highlights

  • A Health & Sensitisation Camp was held in collaboration with ICDS, Chhendipada, with over 100 villagers participating.
  • Sessions focused on the importance of balanced diets, handwashing practices, and hygiene.
  • Recipe demonstrations showed how locally available foods can be prepared into affordable, nutritious meals.
  • A moringa plantation drive was also carried out to promote sustainable nutrition.

The program was inaugurated by Smt. Susama Sethy, Child Development Project Officer, Chhendipada, in the presence of Smt. Kamini Bala Sahu, ICDS Supervisor, Shri Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, HOD CSR, members of the CSR team, and Anganwadi workers.

Weeklong Activities

Throughout the week, awareness drives will be extended to several villages, covering:

  • Antenatal care & optimal breastfeeding
  • Complementary feeding & anemia control
  • Growth monitoring & balanced diets
  • Right age of marriage
  • Hygiene & sanitation practices

Special focus will be placed on the first 1,000 days of life, widely regarded as critical for a child’s physical and cognitive development.

Ongoing Nutrition Initiatives

The Jindal Foundation has been running flagship programs such as ‘Chiranjeev’ and ‘Sneh’, addressing nutritional gaps in vulnerable groups across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, benefiting over 1 lakh lives.

Additionally, under the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Foundation has successfully helped more than 8 lakh girls overcome moderate to severe anemia across India.
