The Government of India has approved 23 new chip design projects under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme. The aim is to make India strong in semiconductor design. Many of these projects are led by Indian startups and small companies. They will work on chips for cameras, energy meters, microprocessors, and networking. Around 72 companies also got access to special design software to make chips.

One of the companies, Vervesemi Microelectronics, announced its plan for new Integrated Circuits (ICs) to help India become self-reliant in semiconductors.

Vervesemi started in 2017 and is one of the first Indian companies to export chip designs to the world. The company has more than 110 chip designs (IPs), 25 products, 10 patents, and works in areas like space, defense, industry, and smart energy.

Upcoming Chip Plans by Vervesemi

  • A special chip for small motors (fans and appliances) – sample ready in 2026
  • A chip for electric vehicles, drones, and automation – sample in 2026
  • A chip for space and aircraft use – sample in 2026
  • A chip for weighing machines and sensors – sample by end of 2025
  • A chip for smart energy meters – sample by end of 2025

All these chips are being designed in India. They use machine learning to make them more reliable, safe, and energy-efficient.

Company CEO Rakesh Malik said, “These chips will reduce imports and show that India can lead in the global semiconductor industry.”

Government officials also said that the goal is to make India a leader in semiconductor design so that one day, chips designed in India will be used in devices across the world.
