Government shares new update, who is eligible to get PM-KISAN Money?

eligible to get PM KISAN Money

22 JUL 2025, New Delhi

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a scheme started by the Government of India in February 2019. Under this scheme, farmers who own land for cultivation get ₹6,000 every year. This amount is given in three parts of ₹2,000 each and is directly transferred to their bank accounts that are linked with Aadhaar. The main aim of the scheme is to support small and marginal farmers financially.

To get the benefits, the farmer must have land in their name that is used for farming. Their Aadhaar should be linked to their bank account. However, not everyone can receive this money. People who pay income tax, or those who are working or retired from high-income government or private jobs, like doctors, engineers, lawyers, or government officers with high pensions, are not eligible. Also, ministers, MPs, MLAs and similar high-ranking people are excluded from this scheme.

Since the beginning of PM-KISAN, the government has sent over ₹3.69 lakh crore to farmers across India. On 24th February 2025, the government released the 19th instalment, giving more than ₹23,000 crore to over 10 crore farmers. To make sure all eligible farmers get the money, the government has run several special drives. One such major campaign called Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was held in November 2023 and added more than one crore farmers to the scheme. Recently, under the new government’s 100-day plan, 25 lakh more farmers were included. Also, from September 2024, a special drive was conducted to clear old self-registrations, and over 30 lakh such cases have now been approved.

To make it easy for farmers, the PM-KISAN website provides a ‘Farmers Corner’ where they can check if they are getting money, their payment details, and their eligibility. Farmers who do not use the internet can also visit their nearest Common Service Center (CSC) for help.

If any farmer has a problem or has not received the money, they can complain through the PM-KISAN portal or use the government’s CPGRAMS portal. These complaints are handled by local state or district officials. To help farmers even more, the government has launched a voice-based AI chatbot called Kisan e-Mitra. This chatbot answers farmers’ questions in simple language and is available all the time in 11 Indian languages, including Hindi, Odia, Bengali, Tamil, and Marathi. Farmers can use it on their mobile phones or computers.

This information was shared in the Lok Sabha on 22 July 2025 by Shri Ramnath Thakur, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
