Google, a digital powerhouse, honored India’s 78th Independence Day on Thursday by showcasing the nation’s famous architecture in a doodle.
Freelance animator, illustrator, and art director Vrinda Zaveri’s doodle showcases India’s rich architectural legacy through its doors and windows.
The major colors of the Indian flag—saffron, white, and green—as well as navy blue are used to decorate the doors and windows.
Additionally, the digital artwork features the letters “G,” “O,” “O,” “G,” “L,” and “E” on each door that has a unique, elaborate design.
According to Google in the blog post, India was released from nearly two centuries of violent, unequal, and unconstitutional British rule on August 15, 1947.
Leaders of the freedom movement included Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Mahatma Gandhi.
Google stated, “The nation’s freedom fighters’ sacrifices and tenacity paid off.”
The national anthem of India, Jana Gana Mana, is sung during flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, concerts, community gatherings, and other events across the nation to commemorate Independence Day.
As seen in today’s artwork, “homes, buildings, streets, and cars are decorated with the saffron, white, and green national flag,” according to Google.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respects to the independence fighters and raised the national flag at the recognizable Red Fort.
“Viksit Bharat@2047” is this year’s Independence Day theme, which highlights the government’s objective of turning India into a developed nation by 2047—the year that would commemorate the nation’s 100 years of independence.
The emphasis is on newsworthy announcements from government programs and policies.
In his I-Day speech, Prime Minister Modi stated, “Viksit Bharat 2047 are not mere words, they are a reflection of the resolve and dreams of 140 crore people.”
