The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed two important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to support Indian startups and boost innovation in the sectors of healthcare, affordable housing, and property technology (PropTech).
These collaborations are part of DPIIT’s ongoing efforts to promote Atmanirbhar Bharat and achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat@2047 by building a strong startup ecosystem and fostering public-private partnerships.
1. DPIIT & Roche India: Supporting Healthcare Startups
In partnership with Roche Products (India) Pvt. Ltd., DPIIT aims to support startups working in critical healthcare areas like:
- Cancer (Oncology)
- Brain and nerve disorders (Neurology)
- Eye care (Ophthalmology)
- Blood-related diseases (Haematology)
- Rare diseases
Key Benefits for Startups:
- Mentorship from global health experts
- Support for pilot projects and clinical validation
- Access to advanced technologies and infrastructure
- Guidance on regulations, IP rights, and global standards
The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, and Smt. Rajwinder Mehdwan, MD of Roche India, in the presence of senior officials.
2. DPIIT & HDFC Capital: Promoting Innovation in Affordable Housing and PropTech
DPIIT also signed an MoU with HDFC Capital Advisors Limited to promote startups in affordable housing and real estate technology through the H@ART Programme (HDFC Affordable Real Estate and Technology Programme).
Highlights of the Partnership:
- Focus on cost-effective and efficient housing solutions
- Support for emerging PropTech startups
- Mentorship through accelerators, academic institutions, and industry experts
- Strategic linkages with the housing developer ecosystem
This MoU was signed by Mohammad Isharar Ali, Director, DPIIT, and Vipul Roongta, MD & CEO of HDFC Capital Advisors.
Officials Speak:
Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, praised both partnerships and said they represent a strong step towards inclusive innovation in India. He emphasized the need for industry-startup collaboration to solve real-world problems efficiently.
Smt. Rajwinder Mehdwan (Roche) and Shri Vipul Roongta (HDFC Capital) expressed confidence in the power of Indian startups and highlighted their companies’ commitment to developing solutions that address India’s unique healthcare and housing needs.
These agreements show DPIIT’s strong commitment to supporting innovation, building self-reliance, and turning India into a global hub for startup-driven development across sectors.
