The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has signed an agreement with Zepto Private Limited to support new and small startups in the manufacturing sector. This will be done through Zepto’s ‘Nova Innovation Challenge’.

The six-month programme will help startups working on new technologies in hardware, Internet of Things (IoT), packaging, and sustainable (eco-friendly) manufacturing. These startups will get help to move from making prototypes to launching products in the market, using Zepto’s delivery network and digital systems.

The partnership will provide:

  • Mentorship and training through expert workshops
  • Special focus on women-led and Tier II/III city startups
  • Market access by including over 100 Indian startups in Zepto’s supply chain so they can sell and promote their products

DPIIT Joint Secretary, Shri Sanjiv, said that unicorn companies (successful startups worth over $1 billion) can play a big role in supporting new businesses. He added that giving startups market access is key to their success.

The agreement was signed by DPIIT Director Dr. Sumeet Jarangal and Zepto Co-founder Shri Kaivalya Vohra. Vohra said this partnership will help startups shape the future of manufacturing in India.

This initiative is part of DPIIT’s mission to promote innovation, inclusive growth, and a self-reliant India.
