According to a company release, Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a Navratna defense PSU, reported a 46.2% increase in net profit to Rs 776.14 crore for the April-June quarter of FY 2024–25 from Rs 530.84 crore in the same period the previous year.
Profit Before Tax (PBT) for the first quarter of FY 2024–25 was Rs 1,037.34 crore, up 47.40 percent from the PBT of Rs 703.75 crore for the same period the previous year.
In comparison to the Rs 3,446.69 crore recorded in the same period last year, BEL’s turnover in the first quarter of FY 2024–25 was Rs 4,105.14 crore, a growth of 19.10 per cent.
The government’s Aatmanirbhar campaign resulted in a huge increase in defense orders, and as of July 1, 2024, the order book of the defense major was at Rs 76,705 crore.
Larsen & Toubro placed an order with BEL earlier this year for the provision of communication and electronic warfare (EW) sensors and systems, valued at Rs 1,092 crore.
According to a regulatory filing from the business, BEL will provide 14 “cutting edge” EW sensors and systems that are made in the United States to L&T as part of the agreement. The Indian Navy will use these cutting-edge equipment, which are made in the country by BEL, aboard three of its cadet training ships. This cooperation between BEL and L&T highlights the two businesses’ solid working relationship and the wider industry cooperation in India to meet the growing demand.
Further orders worth Rs 1,092.65 crore have also been obtained by BEL; they include the provision of LRUs for T-70 and T-90 tanks, communication systems for the Indian Navy, and other spares and services.
