The architecture and standards for 6G networks around the world would be greatly influenced by the center, according to Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of Telecom.
Premier Narendra Modi’s “Bharat 6G Vision” document, which was unveiled in March of last year, is in line with this strategy, according to Mittal, who was presiding over the opening of a center of excellence on 6G at IITM Research Park in Chennai.
By 2030, PM Modi wants India to play a leading role in the creation, advancement, and application of 6G technology.
Mittal emphasized that the program’s goal is to establish a unified and well-coordinated effort to advance 6G technology, guaranteeing that all projects gain from the pooling of resources and experience.
The center of excellence, a division of Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCoE)-India, will lead the charge in the creation and implementation of 6G technology, which offers previously unheard-of speeds, incredibly low latency, and improved connection.
The center will act as a focal point for innovation, bringing together professionals from academia and business to work together on innovative projects.
The creation of new services and applications that take advantage of 6G’s capabilities will be encouraged by this collaborative environment.
Additionally, this center would make it easier for the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to connect to the current 5G Test Bed at IIT Madras, which was created locally through a cooperative project comprising eight institutes.
Since PM Modi’s May 2022 inauguration, industry and academics have made substantial use of the 5G evaluate Bed to evaluate novel 5G products and use cases.
Two next-generation testbeds have been financed by the DoT to further 6G research.
DoT is now reviewing 470 bids for “Accelerated research on 6G Ecosystem” under the Bharat 6G Vision.
