Groq, one of the fastest AI companies in the world, has joined hands with AIM’s MachineHack to start a new hackathon. The event will focus on multi-agent AI systems where two or more AI agents work together in real time to solve real-world problems.
About the Hackathon
- Start Date: August 25, 2025
- Submissions Open: September 1, 2025
- Duration: 45 days (till October 9, 2025)
- Results: October 24, 2025
Participants must build projects with at least two AI agents and two types of input (like text, voice or vision). The solutions should tackle real problems in areas such as healthcare, finance, supply chains, customer service, sustainability, or cross-domain innovation.
Rules & Submissions
Students and developers will have to submit:
- A GitHub repository of their code,
- A 3-minute demo video, and
- Detailed documentation of the system.
They can use AI models from Google, Meta, OpenAI, Alibaba-Qwen and others via the Groq API, which is known for ultra-fast speeds.
Prizes
- 🥇 Winner: $10,000 in API credits, Groq Startup Program entry, merchandise, mentorship.
- 🥈 Second place: $5,000 in credits + merchandise.
- 🥉 Third place: $3,000 in credits + merchandise.
Judging Criteria
Projects will be judged on:
- Technical excellence (35%) – real-time performance, good coding, smart agent design.
- Real-world impact (35%) – solving useful problems and creating value.
- Innovation (30%) – new ideas, creative agent interaction, unique approaches.
Why It Matters
Groq is known for its super-fast AI chips (LPUs) that run models at more than 1,000 tokens per second. Its CEO Jonathan Ross has said the company wants to become one of the biggest AI compute providers in the world by 2027.
This hackathon is a chance for young innovators to create powerful multi-agent systems, learn real-world AI applications, and compete on a global stage.
