01 JUL 2025, New Delhi
On July 1, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an article highlighting the growing importance of solar power in shaping the future of global energy. The Prime Minister underlined how India, through the International Solar Alliance (ISA), is helping drive the world toward a cleaner and more sustainable future.
The Prime Minister reposted a message from Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Union Minister Shri @JoshiPralhad writes about how solar power is reshaping the global energy landscape, with @isolaralliance driving the clean energy revolution not just in India but across the world.”
India’s Solar Journey: A Beacon for the World
In the past decade, India has emerged as one of the global leaders in solar energy adoption. The country has invested in large-scale solar parks, promoted rooftop solar systems, and empowered farmers with solar-powered pumps. This has not only boosted energy access but also helped reduce carbon emissions.
With strong government policies and falling prices of solar technology, India has made solar energy both affordable and accessible, especially in rural and underserved regions.
International Solar Alliance (ISA): Powering Global Change
The International Solar Alliance, launched by India and France in 2015, now includes over 100 countries. It aims to promote solar energy, especially in tropical countries that receive abundant sunlight.
ISA supports developing nations by:
- Providing technical knowledge and tools
- Helping raise funds for solar projects
- Promoting cooperation in clean energy innovation
Today, thanks to ISA’s efforts, even small island nations and remote African villages are beginning to access solar power.
Why Solar Power Is the Future
Solar energy is becoming the world’s most reliable and sustainable power source because:
- It’s clean — reduces pollution and greenhouse gases
- It’s renewable — available as long as the sun shines
- It’s cost-effective — becoming cheaper than fossil fuels
- It’s scalable — can power a single home or an entire city
India’s model shows that clean energy and economic growth can go together, benefiting both people and the planet.
India’s Vision: Green Growth with Global Partnerships
Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India continues to strengthen its position as a climate leader. Initiatives like ISA show that India is not just solving its own energy problems but also sharing solutions with the world.
As solar power reshapes the global energy landscape, India is setting an example by combining innovation, international cooperation, and strong policy support to create a brighter, cleaner future.
