Lava has officially announced that its first-ever gaming- focused smartphone, the Lava Play Ultra 5G, will debut in India on August 20, 2025, at 8 PM IST, as given on X. The device will be available via Amazon India, with a dedicated microsite already live.
Design & Display
The Lava Play Ultra 5G will feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, aimed at delivering smoother visuals for gaming. The smartphone sports a flat design with punch-hole display, a glass back with Lava 5G branding, and a squircle-shaped camera module at the rear. It will be offered in black, dark blue, and white colour options.
Performance & Gaming Features
The device is expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, paired with UFS 3.1 storage for faster speeds. Lava is also introducing a Gameboost Mode to optimise gaming performance. Other features include dual stereo speakers, dual microphones with noise cancellation, and a 3.5mm headphone jack which is becoming rare in this category or inclusion in modern mid-range phones.
Camera, Battery & Charging
The phone is tipped to house a 64MP AI Matrix main camera (likely the Sony IMX682 sensor) along with additional supporting lenses. Powering the device will be a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.
Price & Availability
While Lava has not revealed the official pricing yet, leaks suggest the Lava Play Ultra 5G may launch under ₹20,000, possibly around ₹15,000, positioning it against competitors like iQOO and Realme in the gaming smartphone segment.
