The Government of India is pushing forward its efforts to boost agricultural marketing through the National Policy Framework on Agriculture and Marketing (NPFAM), with a strong focus on fair pricing and market access for farmers.

Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) continue to operate across states as per local requirements. To reduce middlemen interference and ensure better price discovery, the Centre launched the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform in 2016. The platform has expanded significantly, integrating 1,522 mandis across 23 states and 4 Union Territories by June 30, 2025.

According to official data, between June 2024 and June 2025, e-NAM recorded a 21% rise in trade volume and 22% growth in trade value, providing farmers wider market access, lower transaction costs, and more transparent, cashless payment systems.

The government also fixes Minimum Support Price (MSP) annually for 22 mandated crops, based on recommendations from the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP), ensuring at least 50% profit over the average cost of production. Between 2014-15 and June 2025, the government procured 315.19 lakh metric tonnes of oilseeds, pulses, and copra worth ₹1.69 lakh crore under MSP operations.

Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) continues to provide remunerative prices for pulses, oilseeds, and copra through the Price Support Scheme (PSS) and Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS).
