CCI JSW Energy KSK Mahanadi Power

New Delhi, Mar 5

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved JSW Energy Limited’s (JSWEL) acquisition of 100% shareholding in KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited (KMPCL).

JSWEL is a public-listed company with a strong presence in power generation, transmission, trading, coal mining, and power equipment manufacturing. To facilitate this acquisition, JSWEL has set up a wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Thermal Energy One Limited, in October 2024.

KMPCL, established in 2009, operates a 6 x 600 MW thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh and is currently undergoing Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

Through this acquisition, JSWEL aims to strengthen its position in the power sector. A detailed order from CCI will be issued later.
