BHUBANESWAR, NOV 22
In a remarkable show of support for sports development in Odisha, Ollywood superstar Sabyasachi Mishra on Friday congratulated Vedanta Aluminium for acquiring full ownership of the Kalinga Lancers, the prominent hockey team based in Bhubaneswar. The event took place at the Vedanta office, where Mishra, an eminent member of the Odisha#1st Forum, met with key Vedanta officials including CFO Prahlad Rawat and Head of Corporate Affairs Amit Singh.
The acquisition of the Kalinga Lancers by Vedanta is a significant step in bolstering the state’s rich hockey heritage and enhancing its position as a sporting powerhouse. With this move, Vedanta continues to demonstrate its commitment to promoting sports in Odisha, a region where the company has long been a driving force in socio-economic development.
“Vedanta’s acquisition of Kalinga Lancers is a proud moment for Odisha and a testament to the company’s dedication to supporting sports and talent development in the region,” said Sabyasachi Mishra, wishing the Kalinga Lancers great success in their future endeavours.
This acquisition comes ahead of the eagerly awaited return of the Hockey India League (HIL), marking a new chapter in the state’s sports landscape. Vedanta sees this initiative as part of its larger vision to not only promote sports but also foster socio-economic growth in Odisha, a hub for India’s aluminium industry and a key contributor to the nation’s self-reliance.
On this special occasion, the Vedanta team also extended their best wishes to Sabyasachi Mishra for his upcoming film Randipua Ananta, in which he is set to appear in a brand-new avatar, adding excitement for fans both in Odisha and beyond.
