ANGUL, NOV 18
Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), inaugurated the Shramveer Palace at JSP’s Angul unit on Monday. This state-of-the-art, 1,056-bedded, fully air-conditioned accommodation complex marks a significant milestone in JSP’s ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of its workforce.
Designed with world-class amenities, Shramveer Palace offers unparalleled comfort and convenience to JSP’s workers. The accommodation features 1,056 beds, each equipped with premium mattresses, almirahs, and other top-tier furnishings. In line with the company’s commitment to providing a comfortable living environment, the entire complex is air-conditioned to ensure a pleasant stay.
To promote a healthy work-life balance, the facility also includes recreational Amusement Blocks where workers can engage in leisure activities during their downtime.
In his address at the inauguration, Naveen Jindal emphasized the importance of worker welfare, stating, “At JSP, the safety, health, social security, and comfort of every worker are our top priorities. We are committed to ensuring that those who contribute to the growth and success of our company—and in turn to nation-building — receive the best possible care and facilities.”
He further added, “I hope these modern facilities will provide the ideal environment for our workforce, supporting their well-being as they continue to contribute to the nation’s progress.”
After the inauguration, Jindal personally inspected key aspects of the facility, including the quality of mattresses, beds, and other essential amenities. He also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, underscoring its vital role in ensuring the workers’ health.
The workers at the Angul unit expressed their gratitude for the new accommodation and thanked Naveen Jindal and JSP for their thoughtful initiatives aimed at enhancing their quality of life.
JSP’s Angul unit is set to become the world’s largest single-location steel manufacturing facility by 2030, with a projected production capacity of 25 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), further solidifying the company’s leadership in the global steel industry.
In addition to Shramveer Palace, two similar accommodation units at Shramik Vihar have been developed, collectively providing 3,000 air-conditioned beds in this phase. JSP plans to expand these facilities further, with the goal of housing 20,000 workers by the end of 2025—demonstrating its ongoing commitment to the welfare of its workforce.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pankaj Malhan, Executive Director and Head of the Angul Unit, along with other senior officials, reflecting JSP’s holistic approach to workforce development and its focus on sustainable growth.
