SIJIMALI, SEP 4
Continuing its commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in Odisha’s remote regions, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has distributed school kits to over 4,000 students across more than 50 schools near its Kuraloi and Sijimali mines. This initiative spans the tribal-dominated districts of Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Jharsuguda.
Each study kit comprises a school bag, a water bottle, a notebook, a geometry box, and various stationery items, designed to meet the educational needs of the students.
Janmejaya Sabar, Headmaster of Kathaghara High School, remarked, “I appreciate Vedanta Aluminium for providing these essential study materials. Many of our students face resource shortages that hinder their education. These kits will significantly impact their ability to continue their schooling.”
The distribution covered several villages near the Kuraloi mine area, including Kudaloi in Kudaloi GP, Piplimal, Liakhai, Ujalpur, and Ulap in Piplimal GP, Banjari, Grindola, Chaurimahul, and Bartap in Banjari GP, and Ward No. 17 in Belpahar Municipality.
In the Sijimali mine area, which extends into Rayagada and Kalahandi districts, the school kits reached institutions such as Naknudi School, Govt Primary School (PS) Mohangiri, Govt PS Kathaghora, Govt PS Melghara, Kathaghara PS, Govt Upper Primary School (UPS) Gunpur, Govt PS Saisurmi, Govt High School (HS) Gunpur, Govt Ranpur PS, Tunbheigada PS, Govt PS Ushamaska, Govt PS Madanguda, Govt UPS Chubadi, Govt PS Khakesh, Govt PS Bhatarsuing, Govt UPS Tarapadar, Govt PS Salipadar, Govt PS Gokulama, Govt PS Semalpadar, Boring UPS, Dumepadar PS, Ladakhaman PS, Bhitasunger PS, Malipadar PS, Sagabari UPS, Sunger UPS, and Trinathdev HS.
By providing these essential supplies, Vedanta Aluminium’s intervention has led to a notable increase in school attendance. This effort is part of Vedanta’s broader mission to improve educational access in the rural areas surrounding its operations.
The distribution of these study kits addresses a critical need among school children in the remote areas surrounding Kuraloi and Sijimali, where access to proper school supplies has been limited. These efforts demonstrate Vedanta’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of communities within and beyond its operational areas.
