Demonstrating its commitment to transformative community development and expanding access to quality education, Vedanta Aluminium — India’s largest producer of aluminium — has provided essential infrastructure to 14 government schools and 7 anganwadi centres in the tribal-dominated Sundargarh-Jamkani coal block area.This initiative is set to benefit over 750 students in the region.
The support included the donation of desks, benches, chairs, tables, racks, and almirahs to schools in the villages of Mundhelkhet, Codajalanga, Bhograkachar, Ghogharpalli, Jamkani, and Girisma.
The handover ceremony was attended by headmasters of the 14 schools, the president of the Block Teachers’ Association, and local community members.
Bhawani Shankar Pradhan, a teacher at Bhogarakachhar Upper Primary School, expressed gratitude for Vedanta’s support, stating, “We are deeply thankful to Vedanta for their generous contribution. The new infrastructure has transformed our classrooms, creating a more conducive learning environment for our students.”
Appreciating the company’s educational interventions, Block Teachers’ Association president Ramlal Patel said, “The provision of improved school infrastructure has benefitted the students and is helping them focus more on their studies. This initiative is a testament to Vedanta’s dedication in supporting education and creating a positive impact on the community.”
