In a continued effort to positively impact community health and well-being, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, on Thursday announced its collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush on the “Swarna Prasan” initiative. This partnership aims to benefit 500 students from Manikeshwari High School and Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Bhawanipatna.
With the support of the Government of Odisha, the Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, and various officials, Vedanta Aluminium is now actively supporting this program in Kalahandi and plans to extend its efforts to the neighbouring districts of Rayagada and Koraput.
At the launch event, Dr. Ayodhyanath Behera, District Assistant Medical Officer, Kalahandi, stated, “Swarna Prasan is a time-tested Ayurvedic practice known for its documented benefits in boosting immunity and cognitive function in children. Vedanta Aluminium’s commitment to implementing such impactful health interventions in underserved areas is commendable.”
The event was attended by notable health officials, including Dr. Kshtera Kand, Dr. Chandrabhanu, and Dr. Rajkumar Meher, all serving as Assistant Medical Officers in Kalahandi.

Nitin Kumar Tiwari, COO of Bauxite Mines at Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Our partnership with the Government of Odisha and the Ministry of Ayush aims to extend the Swarna Prasan program to benefit 30,000 children, from infants to 16-year-olds, across Koraput, Kalahandi, and Rayagada by 2024. This initiative reflects our commitment to enhancing child health and supporting community development in the region.”

The “Swarna Prasan” initiative involves administering gold particles mixed with honey and ghee to children. This ancient Ayurvedic practice is believed to enhance memory, boost immunity, and promote overall health, ensuring holistic development during critical growth phases.
