BALASORE, SEP 5

Tata Power Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has initiated a major awareness campaign to promote rooftop solar solutions for homes and businesses across Northern Odisha. Capitalizing on the region’s abundant solar resources, the campaign underscores the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) and aligns with the state’s Renewable Energy (RE) Policy, reflecting Tata Power’s commitment to sustainable energy.

The campaign aims to educate residents and commercial & industrial (C&I) customers on the financial and environmental advantages of switching to solar energy. It highlights key incentives such as the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) program under PMSGMBY, which offers subsidies ranging from Rs 30,000 per kW for 1-2 kW systems to Rs 78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above. Additionally, the campaign provides support for the application process and technical evaluations to ease the transition to solar rooftops.

The campaign was inaugurated by TPNODL CEO Dwijadas Basak and Tata Power’s National Head of Renewables, Kaushik Sanyal. The launch event honored several consumers as ‘Green Champions’ for their proactive adoption of solar energy, showcasing the spirit of sustainability.

Through this campaign, TPNODL aims to raise awareness about the benefits of solar rooftops and reassure consumers of the accessibility of these solutions through Tata Power Solar. With a consumer base of 21 lakh, TPNODL is committed to making solar power more accessible and affordable throughout the state.

Commenting on the initiative, CEO Basak said, “By promoting the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, we are dedicated to providing our consumers with reliable, cost-effective, and clean energy solutions. Our goal is to accelerate solar adoption across the region, leading to a cleaner and more sustainable Odisha.”

In addition to the awareness campaign, TPNODL has implemented solar-powered microgrids in remote forest areas of Simlipal Reserve, Mayurbhanj District, and Kolha-Roida, Joda, Keonjhar District. These microgrids aim to deliver reliable and sustainable electricity to communities previously reliant on non-renewable sources or with limited electricity access, supporting local conservation goals and India’s broader renewable energy targets.
