Due to discounts and promotional deals during the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi and Onam festivals, automobile and consumer electronics industries reported a boost in demand following slow sales in the first five months of this fiscal year, according to several sources.
“In view of festivals like Onam, Navratri, Diwali, and Dussehra, electronics, automobile and smartphone companies are offering discounts of up to 30 percent to customers,” according to sources.
Prior to Onam, Maruti Suzuki had a 10% rise in bookings in Kerala, and on the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi, deliveries in Maharashtra and Karnataka increased correspondingly.
During Onam, sales of two-wheelers increased by 15 to 16 percent.
From the average of 3,30,000 units sold in the first five months of the current fiscal year, car sales may rise by 15% during the holiday season.
Consumer electronics sales could rise between 7 and 8 percent over the previous year. During Onam, sales of frost-free freezers rose by 15%. Sales of refrigerators with a single door have decreased by 6% to 7%, nevertheless.
There has been a 12–13% increase in fully automatic machine sales and a 4–5% increase in semi-automatic machine sales.
According to a previous research, up to 10 lakh new employment could be created in India during the impending holiday season, with a noteworthy increase in gig labor and the proportion of women in the economy. According to NLB Services, a provider of technology and digital talent solutions, a number of industries are preparing for an increase in employment, including retail, hotels, e-commerce, logistics, consumer goods, banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI), and retail.
With a 22% growth over the previous year, e-commerce is expected to have the largest demand among these industries.
