SUKINDA, SEP 5
Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) organized an awareness session on “Good Touch and Bad Touch” for local children at the Sukinda Chromite Mine campus on Thursday. This initiative is part of Tata Steel’s ongoing commitment to community welfare and child safety, aimed at educating young minds about personal boundaries and recognizing unsafe situations to empower them in self-protection.
The session was led by Vikas Dodrajka, a trained professional and child psychologist. He provided age-appropriate education on differentiating between appropriate and inappropriate physical contact through interactive storytelling, role-playing, and engaging activities. The children were encouraged to understand their right to safety and to feel confident in their surroundings.
Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Satija, Executive-In-Charge, FAMD, said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, we acknowledge the importance of addressing critical issues like child safety. This initiative is a step towards equipping our future generation with the knowledge and confidence to navigate their world safely. Awareness and education are vital for prevention and creating a society free from fear.”
The session also included parents, guardians, and teachers, offering them practical tips on discussing these sensitive topics with children, recognizing warning signs, and fostering an environment of trust where children feel comfortable sharing their concerns.
This awareness program is part of Tata Steel’s broader effort to promote the physical and emotional well-being of children, especially in areas surrounding its operations. The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing children and their caregivers to ask questions and express their concerns.
