Tata Motors announced on Thursday that it sold 71,996 cars overall in July, a sharp decrease from the 80,633 cars it sold in the same month the previous year.
The overall domestic sales decreased by 11% to 70,161 units in July of previous year from 78,844 units.
The company sold 27,042 commercial cars this month, which is 18% fewer than it sold in July of last year (32,944 units).
Sales of passenger vehicles overall (including EVs) were 44,954 units, 6% fewer than 47,689 units during the same time previous year.
In terms of segments, the company’s domestic sales of trucks and buses that fall under the category of medium and heavy intermediate commercial vehicles (MH & ICV) decreased to 11,174 units in July of this year from 13,291 units in the same month the previous year.
According to the carmaker, total sales for MH & ICV domestic and international business in July, including trucks and buses, were 11,886 units, down from 13,830 units in July 2023.
Global wholesales of all Tata Motors commercial vehicles including the Tata Daewoo line stood at 93,410 during the April–June fiscal period, a 6% increase over Q1 FY24.
The business reported 138,682 global wholesales of passenger cars (including electric cars), a 1% decrease.
Sales of automobiles in both the domestic and foreign markets were 229,891 in Q1 FY25 as opposed to 226,245 in Q1 FY24.
Thanks to favorable government policies, increasing urbanization, and economic expansion, commercial vehicle (CV) sales volumes have almost reached pre-Covid levels.
