ROURKELA, OCT 1
A Swachhata Talk, a cleaning activity, and a felicitation ceremony marked the conclusion of the Swachhata Campaign at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
The program took place at Ispat Haat, commonly known as Munda Market, on Tuesday. BK Jojo, CGM (TE & Horticulture), led the cleaning initiative, joined by S Naik, GM (Town Engineering), Hara Pattanaik, GM (TE) & DSO, Dr. Deepa Lavangare, Deputy CMO (TE-Public Health), members of the Ispat Market Committee; and sanitation workers.
Before the cleaning activity, a Swachhata Talk was held, during which Dr. Lavangare emphasized the significance of health, hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness. She discussed the devastating impact of single-use plastics on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems and the importance of healthy hygiene practices in combating vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.
Later, in the Town Engineering Conference Hall, BK Jojo honoured 14 Safai Mitras from the Public Health Department. These dedicated workers focus on door-to-door garbage collection, surface maintenance, carcass disposal, and pest control. Present at the ceremony were S Naik, Dr. Lavangare, and other officials from the Town Engineering Department. The event was coordinated by C Parichcha, Deputy Manager (HR) and S Pradhan, Junior Manager (TE- Public Health).
In recent days, as part of the ‘Swachhta hi Seva’ campaign, cleaning activities were conducted across several departments within the plant, including the Captive Power Plant-1, Sintering Plant, and Silicon Steel Mill.
