ROURKELA, SEP 28
The Public Health Unit of the Town Engineering Department at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), has been actively promoting health, hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness as part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada observance in both the township and the plant. To foster a culture of health and hygiene among young minds, school children are being engaged to raise awareness in the community.
On September 25, students from Delhi Public School, Sector-14, in collaboration with the Public Health Unit, performed an engaging street play under the banner “Swachhata hi Seva” near Ispat Central Market. A large audience gathered to support the students and witness the performance. The play addressed important issues such as waste management through proper garbage disposal, the health risks associated with open defecation, the harmful effects of single-use plastics on both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, and the significance of maintaining hygiene to combat vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.
The event was coordinated by the school authorities and the Public Health Unit, led by Deepa Lavangare, Deputy CMO (TE-Public Health).
