ROURKELA, NOV 8
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) organized a two-day training programme on mushroom cultivation, held at the Institute of Periphery Development (IPD) on November 6-7. The programme, focused on “Dhingri Chattu” cultivation, was attended by 20 members from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of Putrikhaman and Sagabeda villages in Kuarmunda Block.
The training covered both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, with a hands-on demonstration of mushroom cultivation techniques. At the end of the session, each participant received a mushroom growing kit, including a bag for cultivating mushrooms and a bottle of mushroom seeds, allowing them to start cultivation in their own communities and encourage others to do the same. The trainees expressed high satisfaction with the training.
Master Trainers T Vengra and B Ekka from RSP’s CSR Department, along with Kamala Toppo, a trained mushroom cultivation instructor from Suman SHG in Dalposh village, led the training sessions.
Dr. Deepa Lavangare, Deputy CMO (TE-Public Health), presided over the valedictory function and presented the completion certificates to the participants. In addition, each trainee was given a fruit-bearing sapling to promote tree planting and enhance green cover in their areas.
