In a milestone achievement, the country’s biggest telecom giant Reliance Jio emerges as World’s largest mobile operator in data traffic, surpassing China mobile. As of March 2024, jio has a total subscriber base of 48.18 cr with 10.8 crore of them using Jio’s true 5G network.

The announcement came on Monday as Jio revealed its quarterly results, showcasing staggering numbers and milestones achieved in various ways.

Jio in its quarterly results revealed that as of March 2024 it has a subscriber base of 481.8 million, out of which 108 million subscribers are on Jio’s True5G Standalone network. As per a press release, the total traffic on the Jio network has reached about 148 Exabytes in FY24, marking a 31% yr-on-yr increased.

This indicates, Jio’s growing adoption of 5G and Home services as 28% of the traffic comes from 5G subscribers alone. Along with this, Jio’s Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services have contributed significantly to the data traffic.

In the other hand, The burgeoning number of 5G users, who continue to enjoy the fast connectivity at 4G prices, has been keeping Reliance Jio’s monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) static at Rs 181.7 for three-straight quarters, analysts said on Tuesday.

Consequently, they forecast a tariff hike would need to come soon.
