On the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5), Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged all citizens to strengthen their commitment to protecting the environment. He appreciated the efforts of those working at the grassroots level to make the planet greener and better.
Sharing a message on X, the Prime Minister said:
“This #WorldEnvironmentDay, let’s deepen our efforts towards protecting our planet and overcoming the challenges we face. I also compliment all those working at the grassroots to make our environment greener and better.”
PM Modi also supported the heartfelt initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, encouraging everyone to plant a tree in the name of their mother. This simple act not only honors our loved ones but also helps in creating a cleaner, greener planet.
He further highlighted that over the last 11 years, the government has focused on service (seva), good governance (sushasan), and welfare of the poor (garib kalyan). These efforts have brought positive changes, especially for the poor and marginalized communities, and contributed to the country’s overall development.
As citizens, we can also contribute by taking small steps—like planting trees, reducing waste, and conserving water. Every tree we plant adds life to the Earth. Let us all do our part to build a greener and healthier future for the next generations.
