Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) successfully conducted a mock drill on Friday, simulating an ammonia safety valve leakage scenario from the ammonia supply line. The exercise, directed by officials from the Factories and Boilers department, took place at the plant site and aimed to enhance emergency preparedness.
Safety and fire officials from various organisations, including Kujang Fire Station, NDRF, Paradip Port, and leading industries such as IFFCO, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, Essar Power, Arcelor Mittal Steel, and Adani Wilmar, attended as observers.
Manoj Panda, Deputy Director (Factories & Boilers) of the Cuttack Zonal Office, commended PPL management for their extraordinary teamwork in emergency rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, Chandra Sekhar Behera, Assistant Director (Factories and Boilers), highlighted the importance of such drills and thanked local industries for their support.
The PPL team, led by Chief Manufacturing Officer & Unit Head Palanisamy Velusamy, effectively demonstrated the procedures to follow in the event of an ammonia leak.
Local sarpanches and representatives from various NGOs also praised PPL for spreading safety awareness among nearby villages.
Nihar Kanti Rout, Joint General Manager (Fire & Safety), oversaw the drill, ensuring that all senior officials from PPL and neighbouring industries monitored the proceedings closely.
