On Monday, the government-operated Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) declared that it had maintained an amazing growth trajectory in July 2024, logging 12 million orders in a variety of categories, with 430,000 orders placed every day.
At now, the Network consists of more than 6.38 lakh vendors and service providers, functioning in over 609 cities and providing delivery to 1,200 cities across the country.
“The mobility domain accounted for 4.4 million transactions in July out of all orders. According to ONDC, 7.6 million of the remaining orders were from non-mobility domains.
“The food and beverages category saw 1.7 million transactions, while grocery recorded 1.4 million transactions” in the non-mobility sector.
According to ONDC, the fashion area accounted for 0.6 million transactions, while the remaining 4 million orders were split between retail vouchers, home and kitchen, beauty and personal care, and on-network logistics.
“In the food and beverages sector, the Network captured an impressive 18 per cent market share in Bengaluru and 3 per cent nationally, indicating strong adoption in key markets.”
Additionally, ONDC introduced the car parts and accessories sector to the Network in July. Sellers like Ess Aay Automotive (Hero Genuine) were among them.
In addition, ONDC reported a 21% month-over-month increase in transactions, from 10 million in June to 12 million in July. The latest T20 World Cup finals on June 30 saw 374,000 orders transacted via the network in a single day.
An all-time high of 8.9 million transactions in the retail and ride-hailing divisions was registered by ONDC in May. After rising from 3.59 million in April to a new peak of 5 million orders in May, the ONDC in the retail sector. During the month, the network witnessed 200,000 retail transactions in a single day, which set a record.
“To expand its scope and reach, ONDC now operates across 10 domains with 108 active participants,” the organization stated.
According to ONDC, the site is also probably going to launch a “Swantantra sale featuring attractive offers and promotions”.
