In a landmark effort to uplift the educational prospects of local youth, NTPC Bongaigaon’s CSR wing, in collaboration with the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club and its Employee Volunteering Services (EVOICE), has distributed comprehensive educational kits to 60 students from nearby villages. The kits, aimed at supporting both academic and physical development, included essential items such as books, sports shoes, raincoats, and stationery. Additionally, a whiteboard was donated to the Disha Classes center to enhance the quality of teaching.
The distribution event was graced by Akhilesh Singh, Head of Project at NTPC Bongaigaon, along with key figures including Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M); Asutosh Biswas, GM (Operations); GM Thangzom, Commandant CISF; MS Kandari, Assistant Commandant CISF; Ashish Kumar, Deputy Commandant CISF; Onkar Nath, AGM (HR); Sangeeta Singh, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club; Soumya Kar, Vice President of BSLC; and Jhumita Biswas, Senior Member of BSLC. Students expressed their gratitude towards NTPC for providing free educational classes, which have been instrumental in their preparation for competitive exams.
The Disha Classes initiative, part of NTPC Bongaigaon’s EVOICE program, offers free coaching to rural youth, focusing on preparation for competitive exams for paramilitary and military services. This program, which collaborates with the CISF unit for physical training, has already seen over 21 local youths secure positions in various paramilitary forces, including Assam Police.
A notable moment of the event was the address by Narkw Nazary, a former Disha Classes student now employed at NTPC. His success story served as an inspiring testament to the program’s impact and motivated current students.
Since its inception in 2019, the EVOICE team’s Disha Classes have been dedicated to the holistic development of local youth, providing them with critical skills and resources for future success. NTPC Bongaigaon, alongside CISF, continues to demonstrate its commitment to community support, ensuring that local youth are well-equipped for competitive exams and promising career paths.
