ANGUL, NOV 27
Jindal Asha, Angul — the dedicated wing of the Jindal Foundation focused on the empowerment and education of children with special needs (Divyang) — hosted its 3rd Annual Sports Day on November 26-27. The event celebrated the resilience, determination, and talents of its students, fostering inclusivity and showcasing the transformative power of sports.
The two-day event was filled with high energy and enthusiasm as children participated in a variety of specially designed sports and activities, including running races, shot put, bead spoon races, ball transfers, musical chairs, and a “parents’ no-fire cooking” contest, among others. Each event was thoughtfully tailored to accommodate the diverse abilities of the participants, ensuring that every child had the opportunity to shine in their own way.
The celebration began with a vibrant opening ceremony, featuring a colourful parade of participants and an inspiring address by Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, GM and Head of CSR at Jindal Steel & Power, Angul. Mohanty praised the efforts of the children, therapists, and supporting staff of Jindal Asha, saying, “Events like these not only highlight the extraordinary capabilities of our students but also reinforce the importance of inclusion and accessibility in every aspect of life.”
Parents, therapists, and staff came together to create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere throughout the event. The Annual Sports Day underscored Jindal Asha Angul’s ongoing commitment to providing opportunities for personal growth, confidence, and teamwork for children with special needs. It served as a powerful reminder that, with the right support and encouragement, every individual has the potential to excel.
The closing ceremony was filled with joy and celebration, as participants and attendees reflected on the success of the day’s activities. Seema Malhan and Anita Mittal from Jindal Mahila Samiti, Angul, joined as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of creating platforms for Divyang children to excel in all aspects of life. Seema Malhan said, “This event is a testament to the strength and capabilities of these students. It is not about winning or losing, but about participation, courage, and the pursuit of excellence.”
