Leading low-cost carrier Indigo recorded net profit for the April–June quarter on Friday of Rs 2,728 crore, down 11.7% from Rs 3,090.6 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Comparing Q1 FY25 to Q1 FY24, the airline’s operational revenue increased 17.3% to Rs 19,570.7 crore from Rs 16,683.1 crore in Q1 FY24.

The parent firm of IndiGo, Interglobe Aviation Ltd., saw its shares trade 1.37 percent higher on Friday at Rs 4,491.25.

Pieter Elbers, the CEO, stated, “We saw a continued growth in total income of 18% as compared to the same period last year to Rs 202.5 billion and a net profit of Rs 27.3 billion, resulting in a solid margin of roughly 14%.”
The quarter’s total expenses came to Rs 17,444.9 crore, which was 24% more than the same period the previous year.

Elbers continued, “We will present our newly announced new initiatives to answer the growing market trends and our customers’ input at our 18th anniversary celebration in a few days.

There has been a net increase of 15 passenger aircraft throughout the quarter, bringing the air carrier’s fleet to 382 aircraft.

Including non-scheduled flights, IndiGo reported operating at a maximum of 2,029 daily flights during the quarter. The company also offered scheduled services to 30 international and 88 local destinations.

As of June 30, the company’s total cash balance was Rs 36,100 crore, of which Rs 22,087 crore was free cash.
