According to the Center, telecom equipment that is designed and produced in India is currently sold to more than 100 nations.

Over $18.2 billion worth of telecom services and equipment were exported by the nation last year.

“Despite intense global competition, many of our domestic telecom companies have established themselves in Western countries, including the US,” stated Madhu Arora, Member (Technology), Digital Communications Commission, Department of Telecom.

She said, “Our own R&D firms have developed the first indigenous chip-based 4G mobile base station, which the Indian Army has integrated recently.”

Speaking at the national capital’s “Defence Sector ICT Conclave,” where eighteen companies displayed their wares, Arora stated that information and communications technology (ICT) is the foundation of defense operations.

“Over the past few decades, India’s thriving ICT sector—characterized by innovation and integrity—has developed a considerable footprint. The senior official said, “The Indian ICT industry is showcasing India’s leadership in this domain and providing solutions to the world.”

The Ministry of External Affairs’ Joint Secretary, Abhishek Singh, stated that the MEA is actively seeking to strengthen its ICT cooperation with Africa.

“We aim to address specific challenges faced by African countries by focusing on emerging technologies like blockchain and artificial intelligence,” he said.

With total investments of almost $75 billion, India has become one of the top five investors in Africa.
Across the continent, a number of Indian businesses have played a significant role in advancing digital transformation.

ICT is essential for preserving India’s sovereignty and integrity, according to Sandeep Aggarwal, Immediate Past Chairman, Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC).

India is a trustworthy partner in this area because of its long history of collaboration and respect for African sovereignty.

Aggarwal stated, “Our capabilities in artificial intelligence and data analytics enable our defense forces with proactive intelligence and predictive insights, improving operational efficacy and decision-making at the forefront.”
