The mobile game developer Mayhem Studios, based in Bengaluru, announced on Friday that it had received an undisclosed amount of funding from Lumikai, a venture fund that focuses on interactive media and gaming.
According to Mayhem Studios, it would use the new funding to grow its business, quicken the pace of game creation, hire more skilled developers, and advance technology.
It is currently developing Underworld Gang Wars (UGW), a AAA battle royale game with a strong Indian influence, which is intended to be its flagship product.
Salone Sehgal, Founding General Partner of Lumikai, stated, “Their vision for a truly Indian experience and building world class gaming IPs out of India aligns perfectly with our belief in the potential of India’s video gaming industry to captivate global audiences.”
The game UGW provides players with a novel and captivating experience with its classic Indian landscapes, unique characters, and culturally significant components.
“Underworld Gang Wars is just the start of our grand plan to make critically acclaimed games that appeal to gamers all around the world. Ojas Vipat, CEO of Mayhem Studios, stated, “We are dedicated to developing Indian game talent and exhibiting the nation’s creative prowess.”
Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia India), Steadview Capital, Moore Strategic, Hashed Emergent, Base Partners, and Truecaller are among the current investors.
In May of this year, Mayhem Studios concluded the game’s closed beta and prepared it for an open beta.
With more than 7.5 million registrations, the game’s distinctive fusion of fierce battle royale action and Indian culture has drawn players from all over the nation.
The Velvets and The Bhokal Toli, two competing gangs that are introduced in the game, enhance the competitive experience.
Dedicated to influencing the future of interactive media in India, Lumikai is an investor in games and media.
