Union Minister for Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia represented India at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. He engaged in high-level meetings, addressed key sessions, and explored the latest advancements in mobile and telecommunications technology.
During the event, the minister showcased India’s rapid telecom transformation, emphasizing the fast 5G rollout, lowest data tariffs, indigenous 4G/5G technology, and strong cybersecurity measures. He highlighted that innovation, inclusivity, sustainability, and trust are the core principles guiding India’s approach to technology governance.
Shri Scindia spoke at major sessions, including ‘Global Tech Governance: Rising to the Challenge’ and ‘Balancing Innovation & Regulation: Global Perspectives on Telecom Policy’. He outlined India’s four key strategies to balance innovation with regulation:
- Efficient spectrum management
- Ensuring market stability
- Simplifying telecom regulations
- Enhancing cybersecurity for consumer protection
As part of his visit, Shri Scindia inaugurated the Bharat Pavilion, organized by the Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), which featured 38 Indian telecom manufacturers showcasing cutting-edge technologies. He also launched VVDN’s AI-based Wi-Fi-7, an indigenously designed and manufactured product.
The minister visited booths of global tech giants like Meta and Google Cloud and engaged with top industry leaders from Qualcomm, Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, AT&T, Airtel, BSNL, and more. These interactions aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships, driving innovation, and boosting investment in India’s telecom sector.
Bilateral meetings with international regulatory bodies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), were also held, focusing on global 5G, AI, and future mobile technology developments.
Through its strong presence at MWC 2025, India reaffirmed its commitment to advancing digital infrastructure, fostering international partnerships, and shaping global telecom policies. By actively engaging in global discussions, India is positioning itself as a key player in the future of connectivity and digital transformation.
Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, themed “Converge. Connect. Create.”, is being held from March 3-6 in Barcelona. The event features 101,000+ attendees, 2,700+ exhibitors, and policymakers from 200+ countries, showcasing innovations in 5G, AI, IoT, and digital transformation. With 1,200+ speakers, including global tech leaders, MWC remains the world’s leading platform for mobile technology and networking.
