Bharat Calling Conference Piyush Goyal

Mumbai, Feb 27

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, inaugurated the ‘Bharat Calling Conference 2025’ in Mumbai today. The event, organized by the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focused on India’s path to becoming a developed nation by 2047 under the theme ‘Path to Viksit Bharat 2047: Pioneering Prosperity for All’.

India as a Global Investment Hub

In his keynote address, Shri Goyal highlighted India’s strong economic growth, vast consumer market, and business-friendly policies. He emphasized that with a population of 1.4 billion, including a large number of young and ambitious individuals, India offers immense investment opportunities. Government initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, Swachh Bharat, and Atmanirbhar Bharat have strengthened the country’s resilience and self-sufficiency, preparing it for global trade.

Five Key Factors for Viksit Bharat 2047

Shri Goyal outlined five key factors that will drive India’s progress toward becoming a developed nation:

  1. Quality Management & Support for Small Businesses – Businesses must adopt modern quality standards to improve manufacturing and global competitiveness. Larger companies should help small businesses enhance quality and efficiency.
  2. Sustainability – India has always valued sustainability, and businesses must focus on energy efficiency and eco-friendly practices.
  3. Inclusive Growth – Development must benefit all sections of society. The government is working on infrastructure and ease-of-living initiatives, and businesses should also contribute through CSR programs.
  4. Skill Development – A skilled workforce is crucial for economic growth. Shri Goyal announced two new skill development centers in North Mumbai to support job creation.
  5. Competitiveness & Efficiency – Indian businesses should rely on their strengths rather than government subsidies, focusing on innovation and upgrading technology to compete globally.

Call for Stronger Business Practices

Shri Goyal stressed the need for businesses to improve quality standards and reduce dependence on government support. He also mentioned that there are about 700 quality control orders in place and urged business chambers like IMC to promote good manufacturing practices.

Notable Attendees

The event was attended by Ms. Rosslyn Bates, Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment, and Training from Queensland, Australia, and Shri Sanjaya Mariwala, President of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among other dignitaries.

The conference reinforced India’s vision for sustainable growth, global trade expansion, and economic transformation in the coming decades.
