Govt Bima Gram Yojana

New Delhi, Feb 13

The Sampoorna Bima Gram Yojana is a government initiative by the Department of Posts to provide life insurance to people in rural areas. Under this scheme, at least 100 households in selected villages are covered with at least one Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) policy per household.

So far, 46,739 villages have been covered under the scheme. The ability of individuals to pay the premium is an important factor in its implementation.

The government is actively working to raise awareness about the benefits of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) among rural communities. Various initiatives, such as social media campaigns, radio advertisements, outdoor promotions, and awareness camps, are being conducted across the country. Additionally, village fairs and community events are organized to educate people about the advantages of these insurance policies and encourage participation.

This information was shared by Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha today.
