BHUBANESWAR, OCT 2
KIIT, KISS, and KIMS commemorated the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri with a series of events on Wednesday, including a “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” initiative titled “Swachhta Hi Seva.”
The programmes were organized under the supervision of KIIT and KISS Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta. Students, faculty, and staff participated in a large-scale campus cleaning drive, while KISS students performed the Ram Dhun in tribute to Gandhi’s ideals.
In his address to the gathering, Dr. Samanta encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from the principles of Gandhi and Shastri, highlighting the importance of cleanliness in both the environment and one’s mind. “Cleanliness is worship. It keeps us healthy and fosters a positive spirit,” he stated.
He also noted that the Swachh Bharat campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, has now completed a decade, demonstrating its lasting impact across the country.
Among the dignitaries present were KIIT University Vice Chancellor Prof. Saranjit Singh; Pro Vice-Chancellor of the School of Medicine Prof. CBK Mohanty; Pro-VC Prof. Debashis Bandyopadhyay; KISS University VC Prof. Deepak Kumar Behera; and KIIT Registrar Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty.
In addition to the cleanliness drive, a plantation initiative was conducted across various campuses of KIIT and KISS to promote environmental sustainability.
