The online gaming industry praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to support the sector on Friday, stating that it will encourage young people to pursue careers in the business.

Speaking from Red Fort on Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi described the gaming industry as a massive one in the nation. According to him, India has skilled gamers who can produce top-notch goods in the expanding industry, generating new employment opportunities.

There are over 500 million players in India, where game production is growing. The timing of PM Modi’s Independence Day industry push is perfect. For young individuals looking to pursue careers in gaming, it is a major source of incentive, according to Vishal Parekh, Chief Operating Officer of CyberPowerPC India.

India presently accounts for 17–20% of the worldwide gaming market, which is a $200 billion business.

Recently, PM Modi engaged with young gamers, showcasing the nation’s expanding gaming environment.

Similar to other sports, gaming is being acknowledged by the government as a unique talent.

Roby John, co-founder and CEO of SuperGaming, told IANS that PM Modi “has provided a major boost to the Indian gaming industry by inviting developers and AI experts to lead gaming products, encouraging us to become an economy of not just consumers but also producers.”

Roland Landers, CEO of the All India Gaming Federation, said, “We are grateful to the Prime Minister for consistently championing the online gaming sector and for once again emphasizing the importance and potential of the online gaming industry in India.”

“Online gaming will be one of the cornerstones of the $1 trillion digital economy,” according to Landers.

Online gaming is expected to become one of the major industries in India that creates jobs in the coming years, according to a new analysis from the Foundation for Economic Growth and Welfare (EGROW Foundation).

The industry’s share of the audio-video, gaming, and comics sectors is expected to increase from 41% in 2019 to a startling 68% by 2026.

India can “drive significant economic growth, attract foreign investment, and solidify its position as a major player in the global tech industry by tapping into the rapidly growing online gaming sector,” according to Landers.
