The first ready-to-drink fig juice from India, produced from GI-tagged Purandar figs, was exported to Poland on Saturday, according to a statement released by the Center. This was made possible by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

The fig juice’s worldwide reach was further increased, according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, when it was featured at “Macfrut 2024” in Rimini, Italy, with assistance from APEDA.

The Center said that MG Sales SP in Wroclaw, Poland made a query at the event, which resulted in this historic export. The event received favorable feedback from purchasers.

This is a major step forward in bringing India’s distinctive agricultural goods to the attention of the world.

“This novel fig juice’s journey started at the APEDA Pavilion at the SIAL 2023, which was held in Greater Noida, New Delhi. The product’s first debut to the worldwide market was made possible by the international trade fair, according to the ministry.

The Purandar Highlands Farmers Producer Company Ltd.’s fig juice attracted a lot of attention and was recognized with an award at the event, indicating its potential for the global market.

Since the first export of fresh GI-tagged Purandar Figs to Hamburg in 2022, APEDA has worked closely with smallholder farmers. The product, which has been granted a provisional patent, represents a significant innovation in the agricultural sector.

The government said that this achievement not only showcases the potential of Indian agro-products but also underscores the importance of research and development in enhancing the value of agricultural exports.

“This achievement highlights the potential of Indian agro-products and the crucial role of FPCs in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and exports,” the ministry added
