ECoR Hindi in official work

BHUBANESWAR, SEP 27

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) celebrated Rajbhasha Fortnight at its headquarters, Rail Sadan, to promote the use of Hindi in official work, in alignment with the Government of India’s Official Language Policy. A range of activities were organized to engage both officers and staff, encouraging their participation in the everyday use of Hindi.

During the meeting, ECoR General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal emphasized the importance of increasing Hindi usage in official communications, particularly in online applications and e-office tasks. He urged the workforce to utilize Hindi for files and notings, aligning with the objectives of the Rajbhasha initiative. To reinforce Hindi across all levels, he highlighted several key steps: officers and staff should prioritize drafting official notes and correspondence in Hindi; a dedicated Rajbhasha e-Patrika (magazine) will be introduced to provide reference materials and official notes to encourage Hindi usage; and regular inspections of stations and divisional units will be conducted to monitor and support the promotion of Hindi in official tasks.

As part of the celebrations, various competitions were organized for officers and staff, including essay writing, debates, short story writing, and noting and drafting contests, all conducted in Hindi. The enthusiasm and participation showcased a growing commitment to fostering the official language.

On the concluding day, Additional General Manager Mohes Kumar Behera and Principal Heads of Departments, including Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari and Principal Chief Electrical Engineer Alok Sahay, attended the meeting.

This Rajbhasha Fortnight, coinciding with Hindi Day, serves as a reminder of ECoR’s dedication to making Hindi a functional and integral part of its work culture.
