On Monday, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) and other startups and private organizations are scheduled to sign over seventy Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

The Memorandum of Understanding signing event between the National Institutes and Composite Regional Centers (CRCs) of DEPwD and startups will be facilitated by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment.

More than 70 Memorandums of Understanding will be signed, both in person and electronically, by representatives of various disability sectors, according to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. This is a major step in the direction of promoting an inclusive society.

According to the ministry, these partnerships are “not just formal agreements but strategic alliances that bring tangible benefits to Divyangjan across various sectors.”

It further stated that this endeavor will set precedents and make major advancements toward creating a society in which every individual may live a life of fulfillment and dignity.

At least 15% of people worldwide suffer from a disability.

As per the 2011 census, 2.68 crore Indian residents are living with a disability.

In the nation, a few specialized companies and NGOs are empowering people with disabilities (PwDs).
