Due to strong demand for its sports activity vehicles, luxury class, and electric automobiles, BMW Group India saw a surge in car sales (BMW+MINI) of more than 21% in the first half (H1) of 2024 (January-June).
The premium automaker shipped 3,614 motorcycles (BMW Motorrad) and 7,098 vehicles (BMW and MINI). MINI sold 364 cars and BMW 6,734 units.
According to a statement from Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, “the strong affinity for our vehicles is driven by our competitive edge in exclusive mobility paired with unmistakable driving pleasure and best-in-class innovations.”
When it comes to environmentally friendly transportation, luxury buyers have shown a strong preference for BMW electric vehicles (EVs); in the first half of the year, 397 completely electric BMW and MINI cars were sold.
Additionally, it becomes the nation’s first luxury automobile manufacturer to reach the milestone of more than 2,000 EV deliveries.
According to the business, the BMW iX is the most well-liked luxury EV in India, having sold over 1,000 vehicles thus far.
BMW luxury cars saw an increase of more than 17%, accounting for 18% of overall sales.
The best-selling car in the luxury segment was the BMW X7.
BMW Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) saw an increase of more than 24 pc and contributed 54 pc of sales.
With about 19 pc of sales, the BMW X1 was the most well-liked SAV.
With a 17 pc market share, the BMW 3 Series was the best-selling BMW sedan, according to the firm.
